RESULTS | DENVER AX FRIDAY
DENVER, Colo. – It was a night of champions inside the Denver Coliseum as night one of the 2010 AMA Arenacross Series finale from Denver delegated a couple of champions in both the AMA Arenacross class and the AMA Arenacross Lites Western Regional Championship. In the head class, it was Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLUBE Kawasaki’s Josh Demuth, of North Richland Hills, Texas, catching his 6th win of the season on the way to asserting his third AMA Arenacross Series title. A first-time victor remained on the platform in the Western Regional Championship, yet it was GPF/Babbitt’s Kawasaki newbie A.J. Catanzaro, of Middlefield, Conn., who depended on a sprinter up push to secure his first-profession title.
As the doors dropped on the AMA Arenacross class headliner, it would be a fight between Babbitt’s partners and dear companions Demuth and Chad Johnson, of Rhinelander, Wis., to decide the result of the 2010 title. Coming into the race, Demuth held a 22-point lead over his colleague, placing Johnson in an unquestionable requirement win circumstance keeping in mind the end goal to remain alive in the title chase heading into Saturday night’s last race.
Tuf Honda’s Heath Voss, of Mico, Texas, exploited the chance to contend on one of the arrangement’s best rides, getting the holeshot and the early lead. As the 25-lap headliner moved toward the midpoint, Voss hoped to have things in charge yet tipped over heading into the mood segment. Demuth could exploit Voss’ adversity and drove whatever remains of the way while Triple Effect Kawasaki’s Gray Davenport, of Lehi, Utah, kept him legitimate with a sprinter up exertion. Voss recuperated to bounce back third.
With a solid 20-point lead over his nearest rival, Catanzaro could adopt a traditionalist strategy to the 18-lap headliner. U Motors Honda’s Tanner Redimann, of Bismarck, N.D., got the holeshot off the door and went ahead to rule the rest of the race, driving each lap for his first-vocation arenacross triumph. Catanzaro’s sprinter up exertion was sufficient to take the Western Regional Championship while Gnarbars/Colorado Powersports Honda’s Kyle Calderini, of Colorado Springs, Colo., completed third before the place where he grew up swarm.
