HERLINGS IS STAYING WITH KTM

Regardless of being sought by various groups for his forthcoming move to MXGP in 2017, Jeffrey Herlings is remaining with KTM, the main brand he’s ridden for.

Herlings, whose present contract wasn’t up until after 2018, and KTM consented to an augmentation today that will see the two-time MX2 champion remain with the Austrian produce through 2020. Not surprisingly, Herlings will move to MXGP in 2017.

” I’m extremely upbeat to be with the KTM family. I’ve just been there since 2009 and I’m extremely cheerful to broaden my agreement,” said Herlings in an announcement. “Ideally we will have a ton of title titles and a ton of wins together.

In spite of missing the last two rounds of the title because of a broken collarbone, Herlings, who will hand 22 over September, still holds a 87-point lead in the MX2 title. As per Adam Wheeler, Herlings is relied upon to miss a third straight Fabulous Prix this end of the week at the MXGP of Switzerland. The Dutch local is required to return for his home GP at Assen on August 28.

Pit Beirer, Head of Motorsport for KTM, included: “We are extremely satisfied to sign Jeffrey through to 2020. He came to us at an exceptionally youthful age and we have seen his form into a very talented rider on all landscapes. He is an extraordinary contender, and to have 59 GP wins at such a youthful age is outstanding. Jeffrey is a basic piece of our KTM family and we see our association with him as one for a lifetime.”
